Program uses cognitive therapy to treat symptoms of autism and ADHD

Behavioral experts recently developed a virtual online training may help individuals who suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism by using advanced cutting-edge technology treatment.
An innovative one-on-one online program provides cognitive therapy without the use of a pre-packaged computerized software. Instead, the training uses the internet to deliver a curriculum that is geared toward treating the neurological deficiencies associated with the conditions.
Experts said that the training program works because it has many modules that focus on various sections of the brain. For instance, they deliver training to the regions of the brain that control language, memory, auditory processing, behavior and speech, among others.
They added that if children are diagnosed early with autism or ADHD and enroll in therapeutic boarding schools or programs such as these, they can see improvement in symptoms that are associated with the disorders.
According to the American Psychiatric Association, between 3 and 7 percent of school-aged children have ADHD. Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that an average of 1 in 110 children suffer from autism in the U.S.
