North Dakota bill seeks to confiscate fake IDs

North Dakota legislators are proposing a bill that is designed to help prevent underage drinking within the state, the Grand Forks Herald reports.
Officials told the news source that the bill seeks to crack down on fake IDs, which will allow licensed liquor retailers to confiscate them. Furthermore, merchants will be required to hand over the ID to law enforcement within 24 hours.
“It is not a full solution to underage drinking, but it is another piece of the puzzle to really curtail underage drinking in North Dakota,” Senator Tim Flakoll, told the news source.
Law enforcement officials noted that many bar owners are compliant with preventing teens from consuming alcohol, but this bill will give them the authority to turn in fake IDs. Furthermore, they added that this proposal might prevent minors from drinking if they know that they could be directly turned over to the police.
Troubled teen programs can help children who struggle with alcohol abuse by designing specific treatment and education that promotes behavioral success.
A 2008 National Survey on Drug Use and Health reports that 28 percent of individuals between ages 12 and 20 consume alcohol.
